I was born in one of the most stunning, and culturally rich cities in all of Russia—Moscow. It is the oldest and most populated city in Europe. Misconceptions about the Russian culture abound. From the idea that snow covers the ground 365 days of the year and bears walk the streets of Moscow to all the women look like babushkas and the men are all drunks. In reality, Russia has four gorgeous seasons, bears mostly keep to the Siberian mountains, women are these unearthly gorgeous, well-educated entrepreneurs and the men…well…that old adage might be true, now and then. :) I was 14 when I came to America. It wasn’t how they described it—a concrete jungle of poverty-stricken rubes run by evil capitalists casting downward glances from mile-high skyscrapers. It was Framingham, Massachusetts. But it was foreign all the same. In my formative years you would have called me a painter. Now I spend my days designing graphics for websites, print ads, CD covers and everything else in between. It seems photography is a natural progression of things. I've always wanted to try it, but had a strange fear of cameras. Finally, about a year and a half ago, I have challenged myself and enrolled in my first photography class. And now, slowly, it's becoming my obsession! :)
